Architect and artist Olga Nikolaeva, at 1985 graduate of I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (before the revolution of 1917 - the Imperial Academy of Arts) in St.Petersburg, the alma mater of all Russian artists who gained worldwide fame), creating beauty not only in her architectural projects but also in paintings evoking the masterpieces of the old masters. Olga works in the technique of oil painting, tempera, gouache, as well as a unique technique - painting on silk (technique of the XVIII century, not batik). Many delicate and lyrical landscapes were executed in this technique. Olga lives in St. Petersburg, an open-air museum city that inspires her to create classical realistic paintings. Olga is a devoted artist of academic art. Currently, she commits herself to oil painting in the genre of landscape and still life using canvas as a basis. Olga is driven by the desire to engage in such creative activity which tells about the fleeting beauty in landscapes and still lives with flowers. Delicate and expressive works express joy and divine beauty, grace, they are rich in emotional and spiritual content. Olga has a fine appreciation of the peculiarities and beauty of the vivid language. Contrasting chiaroscuro plays an important role in her work. By modelling the form, the artist literally sculpts it with a small brush stroke by stroke, saturates it with colour, fills it with life, paints in multiple layers: in thin transparent layers sometimes highlighting the texture of an object that looks very realistic. Delicacy and grace, carefully loving reproduction of the smallest plant forms captivate in her romantic works. Online Saatchi Art Gallery (Saatchi Art) attracts me not only with a good level of presentations by artists from all over the world but also with the desire to share a positive worldview with people during the restrictions associated with the pandemic.
