CONFIDENTIAL:
Drafted in Cambridge as an undergraduate, John Eastham (aka ‘Translator’) was stationed in Santiago in 1985, a far cry from the satanic mills of his native Lancashire.
Charmed by the rivers and fountains, he commenced a study of the mating habits of the libélula azul (sadly never published) on a remote eyot in the river Ulla while deliberating on the poetics of rhythm and blues at the University.
Gravitating once again toward the performing arts, agent rehearses comic plays with students, learns language and extends performances into public spaces advertising Die Stadt als Theater and other slogans.
Agent spends some time in a van near the ocean with a view to publishing a treatise on wave-forms (unpublished).
Culturally, subject’s integration is limited to more marginalised sectors – artists, musicians, beachbums etc. Little contact is made with institutional ceremonies or power bases.
Currently subject manifests data dependency, delusion, delirium tremens and, remarkably, experiences some notoriety as a painter and artistic collaborator.
