Ling-An Fang

Fang Ling-An is a Chinese-American artist born in Taipei (Taiwan) and now living in
Chicago. Two generations removed from her mainland China roots, Fang Ling-An lives with a sense of longing to keep in touch with her heritage, swimming in the ocean of passing memory, portable traditions, phantasmatic recall, and quiet grief common to all immigrants. Although raised with a deep awareness of and admiration for Chinese culture and tradition, she is also confronted with a sense of "˜cultural divide' between China and Taiwan. -Quoted from Note of Fang Ling-An's Obsession by Dan S.
