I am a printmaker and scientist from Brussels, Belgium. I combine both traditional and modern techniques to produce prints that cover a variety of themes and concepts.
My principle medium is a photopolymer intaglio film which is applied to copper metal plates and then etched. In contrast to the more traditional methods of intaglio printing, this technique is a non-toxic approach which allows the user to design images with the aid of various media.
My initial works aimed at re-introducing myself to this medium and focussed on the use of a reductionist process, using various forms and colours, to explore how successful etching was in conveying an idea or design. More recently, I have begun to experiment with select scientific concepts or ideas drawn from the fields of particle physics and cosmology. This is still very much a work in process and I believe that the approach will evolve over time, so, stay tuned. :)
Many of the pieces displayed here are an initial attempt to explore either the technique or a graphical concept; however, a select few have more depth to them as these are inspired by a scientific understanding of the world we live in, and our potential place in it.
