Putu's paintings evoke the essence of Byzantine mosaics: The faces are tense and hieratic, yet they retain a human and smooth quality - iconic portrayals of women.

The blotched surface of the colors, especially on the canvas, gives the artwork an impression of age and unique character. This enlivens the composition against a background of small, brushed red surfaces, creating a dreamlike quality. In contrast to the yellow backgrounds, the work exudes boldness and contrast. It stands as an expressionist exercise in the interplay of lines and colors, captivating the viewer.

Born in Singaraja, 1977
Putu Ardika Batuan demonstrated his talent for painting from the age of 7, winning several prizes in children's painting competitions.

1993 - 1996:
Attended high school in Singaraja, Bali, and took a painting course under the guidance of local artists.

1996 - 1999:
Impressed by Putu's talent, Mohammed Harahap brought him to Ubud, where he studied and worked under the painter. He also expanded his knowledge by learning from books by well-known painters.

1999:
Putu Ardika Batuan started his career as a professional artist.
Exhibition at Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali.

2000:
Exhibitions in various galleries in Ubud.

The most recent exhibition took place in 2018 at the Matahari Beach Resort Hotel. Putu's works are also part of several private collections, including the St Paul Gallery in France, the collections of Rob Beemster (Netherlands), Mr. Ketut Suardana (Ubud), Magnus Bauch (Germany), and Fritz Van Doorst (Netherlands).
