Mexican artist specializing in photographic intervention. She creates her own images using digital photography and then intervenes them with embroidery, recycled materials she finds along her way, or plastic threads she makes herself from repurposed bags.

Her works have detailed finishes and a discreet character, yet they do not go unnoticed due to their originality. The themes she addresses are diverse, although they mostly feature elements of nature, such as flowers, animals, and plants.

María Elena also works professionally as a visual arts workshop instructor and art therapist. She firmly believes in the therapeutic potential of art and promotes decorative and educational arts as a medicine for the soul.
