Artist Statement:
Art is a major part of my life it allows me to express my views on how I see the world and how it affects me. Twenty-one years ago, I suffered a major stroke that left me with limited speech abilities. I am unable to completely verbalize how I see objects, people, and colors in the way I used to before I had the stroke. My art allows me to express my words, feelings, thoughts in a creative, meaningful and thoughtful way that I am unable to completely verbalize now. I do not feel that there was one particular life experience that had an affect on my art but as I get older, I feel that the ever changing environment that we are exposed to has a lot to do with how I use colors, objects, and people in my art. My current art projects, expresses humbleness within my subjects, the colors that I choose shapes the theme of my art on so many levels. By me using the kind of images that I use for my projects, it allows me to show my view of beauty for that subject even if others are unable to see it doing their everyday existence. What I am hoping for others to get from my work is to allow themselves to envision objects, people, color, and shapes with a different thought process.
