I was born into a bohemian art life, my grand parents were gallery owners in the late 1940's until 1989, and my father was a Montmartre painter, who began painting outdoors in Kenya in the 1950's, returned to Paris, and began painting on the artist's square "Place du Tertre" from 1958 to 1966, after which he opened his first of two atelier/Galleries in Montmartre. I grew up in Montmartre, and of course my first task was to prove to my father that I could draw, and paint really well, maybe get to live from this activity, or should I say "this life". I have dedicated a large chunk of my life to painting, studying art, doing art residencies. Investigating unknowns more than certified paths. However, it all clicked much later in my life at the start of my 40's I decided to go fully into painting. Added up I have been painting for over 25 years. I studied art at school in England from 1971 until 1981. I did both a foundation course and a degree BA at Leicester Polytechnic, followed by a Masters at the Paris Beaux Arts (École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris). From 1984 to 1986 I painted and did portraits in Montmartre. Since 2008 my career has been entirely art orientated. I opened a Gallery the Blast Matignon Gallery, in Paris from 2011 to 2015. The online art market has become as important as the bric and mortar Gallery, and Saatchi Art is the leader of the online platforms.
