My paintings are about the sea, land and sky especially the marshes and reed bed by the Broads and salt-marsh estuaries of the East Anglian coastline. There are particular places and moments in time that capture my attention and lead me to paint a whole body of work around those themes. I need to paint to discover something which can be quite elusive even to me until it expressed on canvas. Patricia Colyer, 2016
