Mariia has been active as artist since 2005. Her favorite techniques are abstract painting, collage and performance. In her works, she seeks to express feeling and emotion through colors, textures and collisions of various materials and objects. Mariia rarely creates two works using the same technique. Every new canvas is a venture into the unknown. However, the common feature of her works is the incredible emotional power. Originally from Russia and currently based in Belgium, Mariia continues expanding the geography of her exhibitions and works in private collections. Mariia's works have been exhibited in Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, UK and Russia, and can be found in private collections as far as Chile. I often turn to themes of memory, sensory experience, femininity and lost childhood, which I try to express in the form of abstract landscapes or imaginary spaces. For me, a landscape in abstraction has the same feeling of a place, only devoid of a narrative, a descriptive character. In a way, my works are containers of memory, described with the help of tangible texture, color, shape and movement.
