Ralph Miller

Ralph Miller is a contemporary experiential artist with Latin American roots. He began painting as a young boy. Growing up in Managua, Santo Domingo and Miami, Ralph embraced a Caribbean color scheme of bright blues, yellows, greens and reds. He has been living and working in San Francisco for several decades. Adopting a wide range of media and styles—from striking paintings to large immersive installations—his art brings together a great variety of worlds, materials, textures and colors, often juxtaposed to nature—sometimes using elements from nature—as stencils and embellishments, coalescing contemporary icons into unique tapestries of modern life.

Ralph was personally guided in his early artistic development by Dominican Republic artist, Peña-Defilló (“Papo”), a close family friend, and influenced by Dominican Artists Perez, and Cruz, whose studios Ralph spent time exploring. He began his commercial art career designing and building sets while studying at Georgetown University, producing shows, creating special effects, developing and applying sophisticated programming techniques across a variety of media and technologies.
