Amitava Ray

After retiring from Stop & Shop Supermarket Company in 2002 as a senior computer graphic designer, Ami Ray has devoted full time in Fine arts working with traditional oil, acrylic, water color, pastel and mixed media, and recently experimenting with wash and tempera water color techniques. Until retirement artist was employed in the field of advertising/marketing and graphic design business for 32 years but always had a keen interest towards fine arts. Subject matters include landscape, seascape, cityscape, historical landmark, still life, people in action and digital abstract images. Belong to several local art associations in the South Shore area and in the art festivals, members and juried exhibitions, holiday art sale throughout the year. Past experiences includes working as art director in reputed design studio, working freelance projects in various Boston based Advtg companies.. In 2001 served as a chairman for the art exhibition held in Paul Tsongus Arena/International Cultural Conference, Lowell, Massachusetts. Won awards mainly from So. Shore Art associations. Active member of Hull Artists, New England Water color society, Ex member of Braintree Art Assoc., and North River Arts Society.

Master degree in Fine & Applied Arts from Boston University, 1970 and 2 yrs. certificate in photography from Art Institute of Boston, Ma., 3-D design short term coarse at Mass College of art, Business course from Massasoit community college in Canton, Ma. Since 2003 participated in various group shows and open studio tour through Hull Artists Studio, Braintree Art Assoc., Abington Art Assoc., North River Arts Society, Quincy Art Assoc., Quincy Marina Bay Art show and Milton Art show. Got 1st, 2nd awards, honorable mentions and special merit awards at the members and local group shows.

In Dec., 2018 Ami relocated with his family to Arizona, Joined Scottsdale Artists League with a family membership, participated in monthly meetings and critiques. Displayed his paintings for sale around a few local Art shows.
