Suzanne Merritt

Suzanne Merritt works primarily with the ancient medium of encaustic, consisting of molten beeswax, resin, and mineral pigments. In many of her paintings, she incorporates oil, ink, mixed media, vintage materials, and found objects. Merritt’s paintings move from translucent, smooth-as-glass finishes to rough, mottled surfaces, the dimensional, often hazy spaces evoking a sense of serenity and peace.
