"The Secret of the Morel" Drawing

As a male artist, author, and editorial director of the independent publishing, L'AMagie (l-amagie.art), my creative journey is a continuous dialogue between the visual arts, philosophy, and poetry. For me, these disciplines are deeply interconnected expressions of a life dedicated to exploring the human soul, consciousness, and perception. ​My artistic vision is profoundly shaped by a rich and intense "past life" in the healthcare and emergency sectors. Having served as a chief nurse for the fire department (infirmier chef chez les pompiers), a rescuer for psychological emergency medical units (CUMP), and a professional working with at-risk youth, I have spent decades navigating the depths of human emotion, vulnerability, and resilience. This deep understanding of the human condition was further channeled through my work as an art-therapist, where I witnessed firsthand the healing power of creation. ​Today, my visual artwork centers on the precision and simplicity of graphite on paper, as well as fluid watercolor techniques. I often describe this meticulous practice as exploring "a galaxy contained within a thimble"—a way to push the technical boundaries of the medium and highlight the profound uncertainty of the image. While I build upon a background of fifteen years in oil painting, my contemporary pieces blend mixed media including watercolors, inks, chalk, acrylics, illumination, and touches of gold leaf. This universe also takes shape in three dimensions through small stone pine sculptures inspired by Hopi Kachina dolls. ​Having organized and participated in numerous art exhibitions over the years, I continue to fuel this visual poetry through the written word. Through L'AMagie, I publish philosophical essays and poetry collections, such as my work Lucide, which mirror the themes of light, subtle perception, and consciousness found in my paintings. ​This duality between the brush, the pen, and a lifetime of human experience defines my wealth and daily discovery.
