My name is Oluwawemimo Bello, and I am an Afro-cultural artist whose work is deeply rooted in African heritage, symbolism, and storytelling. Through my art, I strive to capture the essence of African traditions, history, and identity, blending vibrant colors, rich textures, and cultural motifs to create visually striking and thought provoking pieces.
My journey as an artist has been one of continuous evolution. I started with painting on canvas, exploring themes of African womanhood, resilience, and spirituality. Over time, my work became more textured, incorporating mixed media techniques such as 3D tribal masks and glue gun embossing to create raised African symbols.
Through Art by Awelewa, my brand, I aim to keep African art alive, blending tradition with innovation. Whether through paintings, textiles, or cultural installations, my mission is clear, to celebrate the richness of Afro-cultural identity and inspire a deeper appreciation for Africa’s artistic heritage.
