Phil Ashcroft’s specific form of gestural, emotive abstraction combines flattened out 1980s style art deco and graffiti influences with references to American abstraction which often threaten to overwhelm the upper sections of his canvases.
Finalist John Moores Painting Prize 2014. Works held in public and private collections worldwide, commissions include projects for Aedas, Amnesty International (UK), British Film Institute, Levis, Phantom International, Royal Mail, Sony PSP and Swire Properties (HK).
Ashcroft curated 'London Graphics' at Thames-Side Studios Gallery, London in November 2018.
Studied at Harrow College of Art and Design London and St Martins School of Art London.
