Nursel Önen is a contemporary painter and sculptor with over twenty-five years of artistic practice shaped by international exhibitions, large-scale projects, and multiple awards. Her work has been realized across the United States, Dubai, Qatar, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, establishing a strong presence within diverse cultural contexts.
Throughout her career, Önen has developed site-responsive artistic interventions as well as independent studio-based works, consistently expanding the dialogue between space, form, and emotional narrative. Her recent body of work focuses on constructing a distinctive character-driven universe. Mr. Roo, alongside Mori, Miro, and Pandy, transcends traditional figuration to emerge as contemporary symbols of resilience, imagination, and inner freedom.
Rather than producing isolated artworks, Önen builds enduring characters conceived to inhabit space, memory, and collection. Her paintings and sculptures assert a bold, collectible identity—positioning her as a distinctive and evolving voice within contemporary figurative art.
BA in Art Education (Painting), Muğla University, Faculty of Education.
MA in Sculpture, Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts.

In addition to personal exhibitions, she has participated in international art fairs, symposiums, and collaborative projects across Europe and the Middle East, reinforcing her active presence within the global art landscape.
