Rutger considers himself to be self-taught in realism. his personal preference is either studio or plein air working with Acrylic on canvas or board. He has devoted countless hours of reading, studying, experimenting, and hard work to create his artworks.
Rutger has participated in group shows since 2011. He has attended three juried shows. In a short time, Rutger has proven to be an accomplished visual artist.
He is a member of the Algoma Art Society, Art Gallery of Algoma, Arts Council of Sault Ste Marie and the Superior Coastal Highlands Plein Air Artist Group.
Rutger currently lives in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada . His studio is located in the Superior Coastal Highlands on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
