Lupe Cunha

Originating from Brazil, moved to the UK in 1981 and worked as professional photographer for 20 years before returning to an early love of painting. I'm Brazilian although now permanently resident in the UK. I work in an abstract expressionist style. My paintings are colour instrumental music for the eyes to enjoy much as one can enjoy a bit of jazz, or rock or a symphony. My paintings originate from the moment, but as they often take days or months to complete, there is an element of moving in time, so each piece is rather a collection of moments, creating a combination of riffs which result in the final finished piece. The inspiration for these varies: sometime and emotion, sometime a place or experience, sometimes a person or even a song. The source is as varied as the various titles which describe them.
