Oscar Rayneri

My name is Oscar Rayneri and I was born in Havana, Cuba. I came with my family to the U.S. in 1956. I was proud to become a citizen on the unfortunate date of November 22, 1963, the day that President Kennedy was assassinated.

I started drawing when I was very young and began a detective strip when I was nine. I still have every page of it. After graduating from college, I began painting in oils and when I started doing outdoor shows, I switched to the hardest medium of all, watercolors. I have been painting in watercolors ever since.

After graduating from high school in Miami, I went on to graduate from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Other than attending an occasional workshop with artists whose work I admire, I am self taught.
