My artwork represents my personal journey towards self-discovery and recovery from mental health struggles, particularly my eating disorder. Initially, I drew inspiration from the female form, seeking to challenge societal standards of beauty through representational art. However, as my recovery progressed, my creative focus shifted towards expressive work, utilizing my emotions as a tool for self-expression. My creative process involves immersing myself in music that resonates with me, selecting a medium that aligns with my mood, and allowing my unconscious mind to guide my hand. I utilize colors that evoke positive emotions and experiment with various tools to create textures and lines which are in fact my innermost feelings through mark making. My artwork reflects the struggles I have faced with anxiety, depression, and autism, yet consistently emerges as something beautiful and distinctive. Through my art, I aim to challenge societal perceptions of mental health and autism, demonstrating that there is beauty in these struggles and they need not be stigmatized.
