To the lay person, what does Writism stand for?
The problem with abstract art is well, that is abstract. Which basically means that to most people it means basically nothing? The language of contemporary art is simply the language of contemporary society. Writism's premise is art that speaks the language of common men. And, what language better than language itself -- the written word.
Words are so integral to modern life that nothing from mathematical formulas to movie scripts can be expressed without them.
Writism (derived from the word "˜write') introduces the written word to painting. Some 60 yrs ago when sound was introduced to silent movies, movies changed forever. Simply because movies with words (dialogues, speech....) could express much more than silent movies.
And perhaps, with Writism's introduction of the written word to painting, paintings will change for ever
