Jose Fabio Esquivel

I live in Costa Rica, after studying psychology, I dedicated my efforts to learn drawing in all the traditions I could find, the classical European, the Russian and Chinese academic ones... my interest is the Great Drawing, that which is not a simple preparation for a painting, but which wants to be a painting itself. I believe that drawing is and should be a major Art in itself, that monochrome is superior to color, that paper is better than canvas... you must forgive me if I get passionate: black and white is my fantasy and the detail is my vice. That is why my relationship with drawing is somewhat problematic, I do not do it to relax, but as a particular form of concern, I want the drawing to be perfect and that is why my attention is very intense and exhausts me, I execute the works slowly and that is why I have great appreciation and I am proud of them. I hope you can see the same as I do, and let yourself be seduced by the singular muse of the Great Drawing.

Academic drawing is not taught in my country, I studied online with teachers from USA, Russia and Spain.
