Evi Antonio

With a background in scientific illustration, Evi Antonio’s art forensically investigates the detail of the natural world.
Originally inspired by the lithographic plates in the 19th century, Evi developed her own technique that reflects the authenticity of the traditions and documentation of scientific and natural history art.
London based artist Evi Antonio, grew up in the urban landscape but knew early on she she was fascinated in the natural world.
She went on to study and graduate with a degree in scientific illustration, working on natural history publications. Her work transitioned into fine art in 2012 when her painting was accepted into the Royal academy summer exhibition in 2012 and projecting her into the fine art world.
Evi’s vision is to turn the ordinary into the extra ordinary. Walking around London, she sees and finds beauty in the textures and within the gritty urban environment. She questions what is beauty? Transcending notions of beauty and ugliness in both urban landscape and the natural world by Illuminating aspects of her subjects that may go unnoticed.
