Fernanda Luz Avendaño

I work in Santiago, Chile. My work focuses in the representation of urban landscape through painting and drawing, crossing with architecture, urbanism and natural science. I am interested in the poetic relations that exist between contemporary landscape and modernity, thinking landscape as a dialectic image (Benjamin). Some concepts that appear in her artworks are: Ruins, non-place (Auge), Heterotopy (Foucault) and monument, searching through representation their relation of power, throught time and space, and their definition as symbols or allegories.

I am interested in painting and drawings because of their composition of layers, where their methodologie speaks not of and instant, but of a visual thinking through time (Hockney) and an analogic language (Deleuze), were there’s space for random elements or accidents (Bacon)

I base my work in a geometrical and mathematical system, with a bounded pallete of complex colours (uncleaned and greys), quoting modernism.

I have a BA (Visual Arts) from Universidad Católica, my last year I participated in an academic Exchange at Universidade do Porto, Portugal, and I am currently taking a master's degree in Advanced Design at Universidad Católica, Chile.
