Fernanda Kusel

I feel that painting is a way of asking questions about the world, about the experience of living, about relationships with other people. I work the relationship between the image and the real (the present time and the experience); how the image looks through the premeditated, and the alteration, the distortion; the 'punctum' in photography, among others.
In my work there is a climate of extravagance and insufficiency, an indecipherable, enigmatic, forceful and uncomfortable component. A sinister air sometimes, of disenchantment, especially melancholic

I was born in 1991 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I studied from the age of 5 with Rita Brañas, and then with Silvia Flichman. In 2012, I met Victor Chab and studied with him for 4 years. That same year I attended Dolores Casares's workshop.
In 2019, I studied with Leila Tschopp.
I was selected to do a residency at the Tokio gallery, in Lima, Peru.
My work is part of national and international collections (Switzerland, Austria; United States, Scotland, Holland, Uganda, Venezuela, etc).
In the present, I am approaching video installations and objects as new languages ​​to expand my work.

I am interested in the everyday, the theatrical, the infiltrations. Fidelity and betrayal of reality, the dialogue of aesthetic languages ​​and the problem of codes that is generated.
I live and work in Buenos Aires.
