Ronan Tipan

​Ronan Tipan is a Filipino-American painter from Chicago, Illinois. His passion for art started at an early age, but a moral obligation to assist his family financially caused him to put his passion aside. As a kid, he was taught to study hard and get a job, and that art was not a viable way to earn a living. While this path led him to a successful career in business, he began to wonder if he should be doing something differently. To commemorate a sentimental moment in his life, he decided to create a painting, and in that process, his passion for art was reignited.

MEDIUMS / PROCESS / INSPIRATION
While oil is his preferred medium, he utilizes other mediums such as charcoal, conte crayons, acrylic paints, and materials such as paper, linen, and everyday objects.

​As part of his process, Ronan creates art based on items he finds interesting, observations in his environment, or ideas that come to mind; then focusing on a specific angle, a moment, or an emotion. Other times his process is more fluid, simply getting lost in the process and letting his mind or feelings dictate where the brush takes him.

Finished the Painting Certificates program at School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2019.

Some works are currently displayed at Chicago Alderman Harry Osterman's office in the Edgewater neighborhood.
