ABOUT
EDUCATION

I am fascinated by the hypnagogic quality of our existence and how we can drift through endless days with mechanical motivations and homogeneous aspirations. Lucid visions and transient memories preoccupy my practice and I gravitate to ideas that explore our human existence.
I want to expand on my interest in cerebral functions and how our concepts of reality are pieced together by layers of both conscious and subconscious realms. I consider memory to act as an organ that allows us to retrieve morsels from the past that are critical to our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Weaving a patchwork of memories together is a cathartic process for me; allowing me to gather an understanding of the remnants that lay dormant in my mind. There is a sense that I elevate these fragments of memory into monumental preservations, however I am also highly aware of their potential to be unreliable and this ambiguity is also what fascinates me. The process of fetishizing the past can lead to a distorted understanding of history, yet my obsessive desire to understand it is still dominant in my practice.
