Fred Cohen

For the past 40 years or so, I have worked as an interior painter, working in many different types of interior painting disciplines. Some years later, I was taught a design system, originally from Europe, that changed my life. This system helps one view and break down visual arts to more basic elemental designs; then reassembling them according to the artists' particular vision and abilities; never forgetting the original underlying structure of the system.



It was suggested that I use the system in my painting, which I had never done. It immediately seemed natural and I have painted ever since. I cannot help but view things within this system which is thoroughly ingrained by now in my aesthetics. It always comes back to design and color, in a never ending exploration and evolution.
