After decades of professional designing, drawing and painting and only after CORNELISSEN thoroughly studied a wide range of painting techniques, did he develop his own methodologies. CORNELISSEN has taken on the challenge of exploring new angles based on geometric shapes, colours, patterns and repetitions.
Today’s world is complex, confusing and regularly disruptive, but there are opportunities to clearly see and feel… The apparent complexity on the canvases, analogous to our lives, can ultimately be reduced to pure simplicity and intriguing patterns. All with the help of traditional old masters’ techniques (the materials such as glue, oil paint, etc. are tailormade by himself).
In combination with new possibilities, a very personal visual language emerges in his paintings. However, the image is unmistakably developed in our time. Old traditions combined with the new.
