I was born in December 1945. I live in a small village tucked away in the quiet, peaceful countryside of Northern- Hessia. Here, I got married with my wife Sabine, and here my children grew up. This place had a major impact on my life and the way I paint. Ever since I was a boy I was deeply interested in drawing in painting. I started painting with oil with the age of eight-teen. I never had a academic arts education. However, friends such as Professor Dr. Bernd Küster, Leny Schellenberg de Krey and Ulli Schulte taught me various drawing and painting techniques, which helped me to improve my skills and to widen my horizon as artist. Whenever I travel I make sure to see local art galleries. Here I find inspiration and new ideas. Artists from the Netherlands and from Gainborough, England have always impressed me. This is why I have been wondering, whether techniques by Old Masters could be adapted in new, contemporary pieces of art so that they appeal to modern people. Therefore I came across the English painter Lucian Freud, whose techniques and skills have inspired my and the way I want to work as a painter deeply
