Gabriella Kardos

I was born in Bucharest, Romania and in 1976 I emigrated with my parents and my twin sister to Canada. We settled in Montreal where I pursued my education in fine arts and art history and in 1994 I moved to London, UK where I have been living ever since.

I am primarily a painter, although I often pick up the camera to depict or construct situations which I find intriguing, dreamy, unusual, or simply with the desire to capture a rare moment where some "truth" is revealed.

My paintings are exploratory: I try to surprise myself, to go to places I haven't been before and when I find myself on familiar ground I try to erase my path and start again from a blurred frontier.
