Gerhard Knell's works are in private and public collections in Germany and overseas. He won prizes and recognition in national and international competitions. Each picture is painted with the highest quality standards.
Two different techniques are combined in his painting: the factual realism of the figurative representations and the emotional "action painting" of the landscapes and abstract works. He finds motifs for pictures in his engagement with nature or they are products of the process of creation as well as his imagination and inspiration. He likes to combine abstract color surfaces with figurative or architectural elements. These are reproduced accurately and almost photo-realistically. The mix of styles of realism and abstraction is what makes it so appealing.
