Georgina Lowbridge

As a painter Lowbridge I concern myself with capturing aspects of the peoples lives around her. Generally focusing upon social interactions, my earlier works deal with the mundaneness of everyday life, whereas my current works captures a range of split second interactions that occur within moments of leisurely activity.
My work contains broad, energetic brushstrokes to add movement to the scene and draw the viewer into the piece. Across all of my work the subject's faces reside as the central focus; the viewer reads their facial expressions and then looks to the surrounding environment to understand the scene. As most of the paintings take place in domestic, household environments the viewer is often able to relate to the setting or activity within the works.
Whilst painting from reality I use colour to emphasise the mood of the scene; these works encourage the viewer to reflect upon the everyday, drawing light upon moments that may otherwise pass unnoticed.
