Inspired by Klee, Miro, Dubuffet, Frank Stella, children’s drawings, primitivism, ideographic mark-making, “lines taking a walk,” imaginative situations and environments, conflicts of all kinds, opposites and parallels, pattern and decoration, intellectual emotionalism, expressive color, rhythm, balance, hand-made, human.
I've been creating art for over 40 years. I have also taught art and design at the college level for 15 years, and been a guest lecturer and instructor at Beihang University in Beijing, China. My art is inspired by everything; visual observation, literature, music, life. I enjoy working in many different mediums including painting, printmaking, sculpture and using different materials to execute in my style. I am a ferocious observer of art and art history, and allow it to guide my work as a committed abstractionist.
