Rick Greswell

I was born in Chester, UK and have lived in England all of my life. I have been taking photographs of all kinds since the age of 16 but now specialise in landscapes and other images of the natural world.

Key to my work is the subtle interplay between natural forms and the light that touches them, where the selection of viewpoint, the vagaries of the UK weather and good timing combine occasionally to encapsulate and convey not just a sense of place, but also mood.

To further this concept I may utilise a variety of image-processing techniques to control elements such as composition, detail and tonal range to enhance the connection between the image and viewer.

I am continually drawn to the coast where these elements are often at their most expressive and evocative.

My photography skills are self-taught.

I am an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and have had work displayed in UK national exhibitions.

I have a doctorate and a bunch of degrees in natural sciences. I guess I must like being outdoors a lot....
