Gt Lowes

GT Lowes is a self-taught artist based in Wiltshire, UK. Born in 1973 in the Northeast of England. Working primarily in oil on canvas, his paintings explore the space between the tangible and intangible, drawing on nature’s rhythms to evoke a sense of stillness, transformation, and spiritual connection.

His process involves building up and then scraping back layers of paint, revealing traces of earlier marks and moments—mirroring cycles of growth, decay, and renewal. Awarded the Gottlieb Individual Support Grant in 2019, Lowes continues to develop a contemplative body of work that invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and connect with the unseen energies that shape both landscape and self.
