Gus Brooks-Simpson

Gus Augustus Brooks-Simpson is a British multidisciplined artist of Jamaican and Cuban descent born in London.

With no formal education in the arts, Gus B Simpson's work embodies a raw autodidactic air of confidence. Defiant, bold, audacious yet contemplative, there is a narrative interwoven in the catalogue of Gus's work that can described as " visual poetry".

The vividness in the characters and the world depicted hints at a larger thematic universe which comes together as Gus continues in his artistic practice.

Gus’s deep intrest in allegory & philosophy lends itself to the contemplative nature of his work. There is always a dialogue to be had regarding the art and its thematic elements, posing questions rather than relaying a certain way of thinking.
