Steven Wilkinson

Born 1975 in NottinghamMy aim is to produce politically engaged work that encourages the viewer in critical contemplation and questioning of, and reflection on, the issues I deal with and by extension of them, and their place in the world. I want the viewer to conclude his or her own solutions. In the course of the year my other concerns have developed relating to the functions and the accessibility of art and the role of political art in our contemporary image saturated culture. I wish to reach as many people as possible regardless of whether they would see themselves as being from a class or a background that should enjoy art, while at the same time encouraging a critical engagement with the images that swamp us constantly. I want to see all classes and generations interested in art, and to go beyond and challenge the narrow definition of what Western modern culture defines as art.
