Nick Hoar

Born in 1987, Nick Hoar is an up-and-coming young British artist specialising in soft-pastel and inks. Entirely self-taught and inspired by the work of Ken Paine, he aims to capture the true character of the subject in a way that is free and full of life. Nick credits his natural ability to an unusually strong artistic family background. The son of a watercolourist, younger brother to an oil painter and grandson of an architect and Punch cartoonist, he has been surrounded by fine art all his life. Nick's free style owes much to a varied, rich and particularly unorthodox upbringing as the sixth of seven sons. He is grateful to be unconstrained by formal training.
