Alexander Hodges

My art is mostly of a pop art, portrait and political in nature. The colors, subject matter and mediums used are all products of my environment. My environment is a product of my education, travel experience and personal tragedies and successes.
I am influenced deeply by the people I have met and places I have seen all around the world. I try to travel as much as possible to take in the colors, tastes, smells and stories of the people I meet and places i go.
I am a firm believer in dive bars because you meet the most honest people, with the best stories and influence.

I am a student of history and culture, always reading and learning.... in fact I did receive a degree in history.
I also am a lawyer, focusing on international human rights, which is a result of my life long travels.
As for an art educations, there is nothing formal, except for art classes in high school. However, I believe my education happens every day, every time i find a new technique or style I like.

My mother was a painter and a photographer, she always encouraged me to be creative and do what I want. To her, art was something to love and to hold and to cherish and to create and it did not matter who did it or where, because all art is beautiful in its very nature.
We lost my mother to a very long battle with dementia, even in the end, when she could not speak, eat or stand....she still smiled with every painting I would show her.
