Inga Paterson

I was born in Wales and brought up in Scotland in the UK. I currently reside in Glasgow. A glimpse into life through the eyes of another is always fascinating, so my artistic influences are diverse. However, it's artists who make me stand and stare and contemplate that I really appreciate. Artists I find inspiring include Lys Hansen, JD Ferguson, Ryoji Ikeda, Maria Sibylla Merian, Paul Klee, Rothko, and Joan Miro.

I qualified as an architect, and I have worked with digital technology since the early days of CAD. Later in my career, I moved into Higher Education and lectured in digital art and design for 20 years. The last 9 years were as Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) Interaction Design at The Glasgow School of Art. I continue to use various digital tools in my process, but I savour the textural qualities of painting. I have spent my life immersed in art and design education. Whilst I've had no formal tutelage in painting I am loving learning through experimentation. I view this next period of life as my third career, and I am excited to start out as an artist and explore my own creativity.

In my role as lecturer in digital art and design I've been involved in numerous art and design related exhibitions. However, as an artist none so far.
