Ioana Marinca

Born in Transilvania, I use photography as a visual diary. Now based in London, my work focuses on street and documentary genres, exploring the notion of home - particularly in trying to understand what makes a place welcoming and what it means to belong. After twelve years I have put another career on hold to focus solely on photography.

Recent group exhibitions include Women Street Photography at Pho Sofia, ShutterHub Open in Amsterdam and 24:2019 in London.

I am a self-taught photographer, but draw inspiration from a multitude of other photographers, among which: Christopher Anderson, Vanessa Winship, Alec Soth, Anthony Suau, Susan Lipper, Martine Franck, David Goldblatt.
