Iwona Borkowska

I am a contemporary abstract painter whose work is inspired by landscapes and the emotional impact of light, color, and space. Through abstraction, I translate natural impressions into expressive compositions that balance intuition with structure.

My paintings focus on atmosphere rather than representation. Using layered textures and dynamic color relationships, I explore how light shapes emotion, depth, and movement within the canvas. Each work develops through an intuitive process guided by observation, experience, and painterly gesture.

Painting is a disciplined yet intuitive practice for me. I approach the canvas as a space for exploration, where form and color evolve gradually, allowing the work to find its own rhythm and balance. This method results in compositions that feel organic, immersive, and emotionally grounded.

I create paintings that invite contemplation and personal interpretation. Rather than conveying fixed narratives, my work offers open visual spaces where viewers can form their own emotional connections and experiences.

My goal is to create paintings that resonate over time — works that bring a sense of calm, depth, and visual presence into contemporary interiors and private collections.

I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and Sculpture (2004–2008) and a Master’s degree in Painting and Multimedia (2008–2010).

From 2001 to 2003, I also studied at the Author’s Graphic Design Studio “Abrys,” specializing in Visual Advertising, where I received the title of Plastic Artist.

I have exhibited my work in Warsaw, Wrocław, and Głogów, and I collaborate with galleries in Poland and internationally, including Vivid, Touch of Gallery, Pragaleria, and Saatchi Art.

My paintings are held in private and corporate collections and are owned by collectors from a variety of professional backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, medical professionals, and executives. Among the collectors of my work is Kamila Rowińska, a coach and personal development mentor.

Art critic and poet Zofia Gebhard dedicated a poem to my work in her collection In the Studio, reflecting critical recognition of my artistic practice.

I also participate in charitable auctions, donating artworks to support social and cultural initiatives.
