Jacolien de Jong creates drawings using a mixture of techniques. Using ink and pastel, she conjures up a world on paper in which thoughts and ideas are literally shaped into imaginary landscapes and spaces. In making her drawings, Jacolien allows herself to be inspired by the inscrutable world of fantasies and thoughts of the human brain. The mystery of the origin of ideas, the evoking of memories and thoughts that sprout from the human brain literally take structure and shape in her drawings. Multi-layerd views, organic shapes, flowing lines and earthy forms are recurring motifs in her work.

Jacolien is a Bachelor in Fine Arts /Drawing and Painting, educated at HKU University of the Arts, Utrecht, The Netherlands. She graduated in 1992 and is living and working in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
