Jan De Wit

Jan de Wit was born and raised in The Hague/Netherlands, the son of an art historian and a journalist.

After school hi decided to become a graphic artist and went to London to study at the London College of Communication.
After two years, he went to West Berlin, to determinate his studies at the Academy of Art as student of the famous Prof. Lortz.
During that time, he was strongly influenced by Hejek Halke, who was then the best known photography teacher of the Academy.
Here he fell in love with photography. A passion that kept him going since then.

today, most of his works held in private collections, galleries and institutions.
His latest exhibition, about a private travel with Helmut Newton to places of his youth in the eastern part of Germany, called "Journey to the past" was seen in 2014 at the Helmuth Newton Foundation in Berlin.
