Jane Shoenfeld

I love it when people let their imagination roam freely as they look at my work. I like surprising and being surprised by what emerges in my paintings when imagination is free to play.

I moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1987, after living in NYC for over 20 years. I exhibited my work in NYC Soho Galleries in the 1980"²s. When I moved to New Mexico in 1987 and began working on location, my focus and passion became imaginative simplification and color.

My current work includes landscape abstractions in pastel and mixed media as well as small mixed media pieces based on memories and dreams. My exploration of color, abstraction and experimentation with media comes out years of careful observation combined with an ability to experience and express a passionate connection to nature. The colors I use are in response to the energy of the place and color relationships based on the color wheel.
