Jason Butterfield

Jason's unique blend of style is developed from a broad range of artistic and photographic experience. Starting from the age of 8, when he would spend hours in a makeshift darkroom at the family home, helping his mother explore her passion for amateur photography. There he learned, and was enthralled by, the powerful play of emotions that can be conveyed with a single picture.
His personal collection began to take form after the acquisition of his first SLR camera in 2004, and today is still shooting with the same enthusiasm and excitement of that 8 year old child. Over the years he has developed a passion for travelling, open space and youthful energy that is clearly reflected in his pictures.
His inaugural exhibition was in Milan (Italy) at the Museum of Science and Technology where he chose a theme of "˜open spaces' which has inspired much of his photography. The essence of each shot is in some way affected by the vastness of its environment and the subject's interaction with the same.
This approach results in a striking pictorial expression that covers a wide range of photographic styles and owes it's riches more to the emotional involvement of the viewer than a particular technique or design.
