Jay Fredrick

I took up painting around 2004. I have always been in to art but oil painting was a replacement for silver photography for me when being a recluse in the darkroom gave way to photoshop. I occasionally do watercolors and acrylics. I have always admired the dutch masters who came from the realism period of egg tempera with oil glazes. When you go to a museum you can see that they painted amazingly thin washes of color.

Abstract came as an admiration of all things abstract the style and the looseness and energy. Sometimes it focus on something simplistically beautiful and forces you how to really see things, stoking the imagination in the process.

I do take on commission work on deposit for extra large works better than 36x36. Please contact me for details. I insist on total creative control on placement but I do encourage color swatches from the end user.
