Jeff Sommers

My work exists in those areas of thought and language that represent an invitation to the blind spots. Figuratively and literally looking at blind spots with and without filters to see what’s there we move forward. I’m pretty terrible at checking in my blind spot while driving a car. So it’s a bit ironic. That’s it. It’s pretty simple.

I hold a MFA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Hamline University in Minnesota. I studied printmaking for two years at Hamline University after graduating. I have worked in paint manufacturing, taught middle school students, founded, and operated, along with my wife, an ice cream business. My art includes drawing, painting, photography, and fine art printing. I currently live and make art in Arizona.
